Lang Dulay Achievements
During former President Fidel Ramos’ administration in 1998, Lang Dulay received the Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan award from the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA).
Lang Dulay were among the ones known to be a “dreamweaver”, weavers that base their designs from dreams, from which some of Lang Dulay’s designs originated.

Along with the NCCA, she also set up the Manlilikha ng Bayan Center in her hometown Lake Sebu, South Cotabato for the women of the community to improve their craft. Through this her grandchildren became weavers herself.

More importantly is acknowledging Lang Dulay’s efforts for preserving her people’s tradition of weaving T’nalak despite advances in technology that led to modernization of the craft.
what is gamaba?
Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan (GAMABA) also known as the National Living treasure award is an award-giving body that is committed to giving honor and pride to traditional artists. Institutionalized through the Republic Act No. 7355, this award is given to qualified artists whose works dignify folk arts and have been consistently engaged in their crafts for at least 50 years. It also aims to preserve and transfer the skills needed through their generation and promote genuine appreciation.
